About Hawaiki Kura

Hawaiki Kura is a Māori-owned business based in Te Tauihu (the Top of the South Island) which specialises in Māori development, Māori tourism and Māori awareness training.

Created by husband and wife team Kiley and Donna Nepia out of their passion for Māori culture and their desire to strengthen people’s understanding of and connection to Te Ao Māori.

Over the past 10 years, Hawaiki Kura has become known for delivering high-quality initiatives and experiences for Māori and non-Māori organisations. These have included leading and developing cultural revitalisation activities for iwi; cultural leadership workshops for rangatahi (youth); development of social enterprises to support marae; delivering cultural awareness workshops for beginners; and showcasing the beauty of the Māori world to international guests through tourism.
